Aloha from the beautiful island of O'ahu.
Jake and I, rather I am, are starting this blog to let everyone know what's going on with us and how everything is going.
We'll be married August 24, 2010. We're both really excited. So here is a little but about us.
My name is Danica Palmer.(Soon to be Danica Contor.) I grew up as a military kid. I was born in Columbus, Georgia; moved all over the western United States and eventually settled in Hawaii. I graduated in 2008 from Leilehua High School (Go Mules!) and started my education at Brigham Young University-Hawaii in fall of that same year. I'm an English Major and intend to write Children's Literature (Which IS Literature Mr. BYU-Provo Poetry Professor!). I was taking a bunch of English classes in Fall of 2009 when all of the sudden love struck me, and that's where we move on to Jake.
JAKENESS
Since you already know my name, and know what name Danica will have come August 24th I will leave that unsaid. I wasn't born in any really cool place, just a little podunk town of Moscow Idaho, and I lived in Idaho my entire life. That is until graduation from Pocatello High School in 2002 (six years I know), and then I was on to Oregon! I know not that exotic. Eventually I served a mission. I was called to labor in the Korea Pusan Mission for two of the longest, hardest, most strenuous years of my life. Best two years my ass, perhaps the most fulfulling, but not the best. Upon return home I discover that my application to BYU Hawaii was accepted. To the envy of all my friends and family I began my college career as an English Major and Theater Minor. Second half of my junior year, I was taking a bunch of English classes, when all of a sudden I struck someone with love.
So we were both in class (Writing for Publication with Sister Marler), and he read my fairy-castle/talking-cats/magic-land story and I read his alien-butt-kicking/planet-hopping/humans-will-destroy-the-universe story and it was love. Well, first it was lots of editing; then e-mailing; then facebooking; then dating; THEN love. :) We were (and are) head over-heels for each other. We started dating in October and in March he proposed and now we’re getting married in August (as I’ve said)
Well. I think that’s enough about us for today. We’ll keep you posted.
Aloha Oe
